Other Mapping Tools

Other tools that Professor Seeger often uses include:

  • GeoJSON.io: An online map editor that allows point, line and polygon geometries to be drawn and saved in several (GeoJSON, topoJSON, CSV, KML, WKT or Shapefile) file formats.
  • MapShaper: Provides adjustable simplification of topology. Reads and writes Shapefile, GeoJSON and TopoJSON formats so can also serve as a file converter without requiring simplification.

  • Tidy Census package for R: Designed to facilitate the process of acquiring and working with US Census Bureau population data in the R environment.
