Other Mapping Tools
Other tools that Professor Seeger often uses include:
- GeoJSON.io: An online map editor that allows point, line and polygon geometries to be drawn and saved in several (GeoJSON, topoJSON, CSV, KML, WKT or Shapefile) file formats.
-
MapShaper: Provides adjustable simplification of topology. Reads and writes Shapefile, GeoJSON and TopoJSON formats so can also serve as a file converter without requiring simplification.
- Tidy Census package for R: Designed to facilitate the process of acquiring and working with US Census Bureau population data in the R environment.
- Kyle Walker’s 2023 free online book Analyzing US Census Data: Methods, Maps, and Models in R is a great resource.
